- Researching Beyond the Sound Bite
Empiric Research was created to offer an alternative to modern journalism. Modern media and political institutions have an incentive to simplify complex socail-economic events into easy-to-understand sound bites. The simpler a report on a current event the more advertising the media company can generate. The details or fundamentals of geopolitical events are unimportant to media distributors, what matters is that the content resonates with consumers. If media was simply a source of entertainment for consumers than there would be few negative consequences, but people are heavily influenced by the information they receive from media outlets. Sound bites are simple, but the world is not.
Understanding the foundations of political and economic structures through an empirical approach is the cornerstone of Empiric Research.
- Communication
The world is complex and the written word has limits to how much information it can transmit. To address those limits Empiric Research believes open communication with readers is vital to understanding our world. In addition to the newsletter, I am always open to talking with clients regarding topics covered or not covered in the newsletter. Meeting with clients or talking on the phone can be the difference in understanding a geopolitical event.
- Debating
Another cornerstone of Empiric Research is the belief that a good debate can avoid many mental pitfalls such as the self confirmation bias. There are very few singular truths in the world and constructive arguments help focus and define my understanding as well as the knowledge of the readers. All points of views and beliefs are welcomed when brought to the debate.
